During that time, CPPA’s Legislative Committee will review the proposed bills, interface with legislative staff, and advocate on behalf of our members. The next key legislative deadline is April 30th, by which all bills with a fiscal impact must have been approved by their respective policy committees.
Please continue to follow the CPPA newsletter for updates.
As always, I hope that this newsletter finds you and yours in good health and spirits. Maybe because of the Pandemic and also, maybe because of individual plans, I’ve recently received a few emails from my University and from my Parking colleagues saying that they’re making the transition from “working life” to “retired life.” This topic finds more relevance in current times because of many organizations’ “Hiring Chill” and the inability to immediately hire replacements in light of budget shortfalls.
This temporary trend highlights the importance of what many of you and your leadership already understand and that is, the importance of transition planning and the importance of preparing a trained and resilient workforce. With travel restrictions and budget shortfalls in place, I encourage you to look into the workshops that your CPPA Professional Development Team (under the Leadership of Casey Jones) have put together. Your CPPA membership is the ticket to high-quality, relevant, and approachable training and workshops for your team, and for you.
Please take the time to look into CPPA’s training and workshops to ensure your workforce, your team is ready for the future. I look forward to seeing you at a CPPA Workshop soon.
Tony
Colleagues in Parking,
Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and Mobility on Demand (MOD) are emerging transportation frameworks that are poised to re-shape how mobility services are provided in cities, at universities and everywhere in between. Parking and transportation professionals must understand the concepts, technologies, advantages and limitations and likely outcomes associated with MaaS and MOD to be prepared for the not-to-distant future.
Join Crissy Ditmore, Principal with Spartan Edge Consulting LLC, where she will discuss new mobility and the likely impact on parking policy and service delivery. Register here for this important session.
For information about CPPA’s professional development program and offerings please contact committee chairman Casey Jones at cjones@desman.com.
Thanks to our friends at Conduent for making this session possible.
Colleagues,
I hope this message finds you rested and well from your Thanksgiving holiday. I enjoyed seeing so many of you in attendance during CPPA’s Virtual Conference, and I know from your emails and comments, that it was an excellent time to “regroup” and “refocus” in the midst of so much change. I’d like to thank our Conference Chair Madison Huemmer and her able and dedicated committee for their many hours of planning. Madison and her committee initially spent a lot of time planning for our annual conference to be held in San Diego but, COVID threw all of us a curveball. She and her committee quickly pivoted and put together an informative and entertaining conference with a creative and unique format. I’d also like to thank you for your participation; our CPPA Board, Directors and Representatives for their leadership over this turbulent year; and finally I thank our Committee Chairs, Committee Members, Advisory Board, Sponsors and, Affiliates. All of you (us) are unpaid volunteers who give freely of your time to make this organization relevant and impactful throughout California.
I want to take this time to congratulate Jonathan Wicks for his selection as CPPA’s Consultant Representative, and I want to congratulate Carmen Gachupin for her selection as CPPA’s Southern Director at Large. Finally, I want to thank Casey Jones for his service as CPPA’s Consultant Representative as he terms out. I am pleased to announce that Casey Jones will transition to CPPA’s Chair of Professional Development and excited about the potential he brings to our CPPA organization in the Professional Development area.
Please take care of yourselves, your families, friends & colleagues as we enter into this Holiday Season. I hope you will take a moment to find some joy and rest as we regroup and prepare for a new year.
